TRENDING ON RANDY DREAMMAKER

2022 Honda PCX and Honda ADV Technical Specifications

Honda PCX or HONDA ADV

Randy Dreammaker put these Technical Specifications together for you, while trying to decide on the Scooter he would ultimately purchase for use in Southern California, where gas prices are always $3.00 higher than the national average.

Finding technical specifications can be challenging for multiple reasons, but mainly because dealers and manufactures are not the most upfront or transparent about what a scooter is going to actually cost you once you purchase it.

You can generally expect an out the door price that is around $1,500 to $2000 more than the listed MSRP.

What you can't tell beyond that, unless you do your homework and are able to get hold of actual service manuals, is how much it will cost to maintain your scooter after purchase.  For a small bike 150cc scooter, you'll find the competitor 2022 Piaggio Liberty can be more long term cost friendly than the 2022 Honda ADV 149cc or Honda PCX 159cc because the Honda PCX and Honda ADV require a valve clearance check with every service.

The first service at around 600 miles and normal services every 4,000 miles are going to be pricey, because they include a valve clearance check by the actual dealer.

The difference between the Honda PCX and ADV are similar or close in most technical areas, though there are some big differences, especially with the Honda ADV having new technology.

Price wise, the difference between the Honda PCX with ABS and the Honda ADV is only $200. The PCX packs a little bit more power, but the ADV has a new suspension, and a Smart Key Fob that replaces the traditional ignition key.  The Smart Key Fob uses proximity technology requiring that you are only near the ADV to start the ignition, open the gas cap, open the seat, unlock the handle bars. It also features a "Find my scooter" feature that will flash the headlights and honk your horn from a distance. This is also a good deterrent if your in a situation where you need to draw attention to your scooter is undesirables are around.

Both advertise the ability to carry a full size helmet under the seat, but what they do not mention is you have to have a small head.  A normal large adult sized helmet will not fit.

For the sake of a real comparison, the included specs are the Honda PCX model with optional ABS brakes, and the Honda ADV that comes standard with ABS Brakes.  You will pay around $800 over the price of the non-ABS version of the PCX if you want ABS breaks for added safety.

Randy created a comparison side-by-side spreadsheet to make it easy for you to see the specs and features of the two.  It is easier to understand the differences when you can see them next to each other.  This spreadsheet shows 2022 Honda ADV 150 and 2022 Honda PCX 160 specifications that you will not find anywhere else.
