2022 Honda ADV or Piaggio Liberty

Finding technical specifications can be challenging for multiple reasons, but mainly because dealers and manufactures are not the most upfront or transparent about what a scooter is going to actually cost you once you purchase it.

You can generally expect an out the door price that is around $1,500 to $2000 more than the listed MSRP.

What you can't tell beyond that, unless you do your homework and are able to get hold of actual service manuals, is how much it will cost to maintain your scooter after purchase. For a small bike like a Piaggio Liberty 150 or Honda ADV (150) , you may be surprised to discover that the 2022 Piaggio Liberty 150 ultimately cost less to maintain, because the 2022 Honda ADV requires a valve clearance check with every service.

The first service at around 600 miles on both scooters will be pricey, because they both include a valve clearance check by the actual dealer.

Pros of the Piaggio Liberty include a higher maximum weight capacity than the Honda ADV. If you intend to carry luggage, packages, or a passenger on your scooter, the Piaggio is a much better option.

Price wise, the difference is considerable with the Honda ADV having a premium cost of $4299 compared to the $2999 Piaggio Liberty.

Both advertise the ability to carry a full size helmet, but what they do not mention is you have to have a small head. A normal large adult sized helmet will not fit.

The Piaggio Liberty comes with a traditional engine immobilization key compared to the Honda ADV that comes with a Wireless Smart Key Fob.

Both have front wheel ABS Breaks. The Honda ADV comes with an adjustable fly screen windshield, better shocks and adjustable handle bar.

The Honda ADV is liquid cooled and the Piaggio Liberty is air cooled.

Generally a 150cc scooter should have a minimum Miles Per Gallon of at least 65MPG, estimates by actual owners suggest the Piaggio Liberty with in city riding can go as high as 95MPG and the Honda ADV 70MPG.
